Jimi Franklin

Jimi Franklin (b. Los Angeles CA 1983) is currently a photograp her based in Brooklyn, NY, working simultaneously in both the fine art and commercial field.He has published several books such as Downtown published in 2010 by Kaugummi books based in Paris, or home/away published in 2012 by Banana Fish books based in China.
Franklin’s work was also displayed in the first annual NY Photo Festival as a part of a project curated by Tim Barber titled Various Photographs.As well as displaying works in galleries and books, Franklin’s work can be seen in various periodicals such as Paris-LA, Huge Magazine, Popeye, Figaro Japon, and Above Magazine to name a few.He holds a BFA in photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and has worked as the 1st assistant to fashion and advertising photographer Takay.
1983年アメリカ、ロサンゼルス生まれ、Massachusetts College of Art and Design写真学科卒業。
現在NYのブッルクリンを拠点に、ファインアートと商業写真の二つの世界で活動している。
2010年、パリベースのKaugummi booksから出版されたDowntownで注目を浴びる。
翌年2011年に単独でアイスランドを旅し撮影した写真を一冊にまとめたto fade into emptinessを出版し、
2012年にはhome/awayをBanana Fish booksより出版。
エキシビションなどでは、NY Photo FestivalのTim BarberキュレーションのVarious Photographsのプロジェクトに参加。
日本国内では京都造形大学教授、後藤繁雄から「後藤繁雄賞」を受賞。
商業面では主にファッションの分野が活動の拠点。ファッション、広告フォトグラファーのTakayに師事後、独立。
Popeye, Huge, Figaro Japonのファッション紙やStussy 、Tommyのカタログ撮影などを手掛ける。
